As Blue Cocoon is my first project as a writer/
director, it is of enormous importance to me.
Through tragedy, the film speaks about the
problem of ageism in our society, directly
challenging the effect it can have on women.
Being a young woman, I feel it’s my responsibility
to question these aspects of our world
and bring to light the terrible effect it can have
on women’s psychological well-being. I have
attempted this through modernising one of the
oldest story-telling mediums - fairy-tale. By
forming a miserable example of one
woman’s descent into obsession and insanity,
and the young girl that is dragged down with
her.
